This Dublin family wanted an open plan kitchen and living space that complemented the contemporary extension they had recently added to their mid-century home.

The space needed to fulfil their day to day functional requirements while appealing to their love of minimal and industrial design.
We wanted to create a design that was functional, maximised storage and provided a social space for the family to cook and spend time together. The family are real foodies and have a history of architecture, so the space needed to fulfil the day to day functional requirements while appealing to their love of minimal and industrial design.
Using a simple palette of brushed stainless steel, LG HI-Mac and character oak, we juxtaposed the warm family environment with industrial aesthetics to create this kitchen and living room. Handleless drawers and cupboards streamline the kitchen. The long monochromatic island is punctured with stainless steel and oak shelving for cookbooks. The same finishes have been applied to the bespoke joinery in the adjacent living space, providing continuity throughout the ground floor. The space has a cool yet earthy feel and is warmed by the open storage spaces and shelving, allowing the family to display those personal items that make a house feel like a home.
